Good article.
"The results were more dramatic with the test cars that require premium fuel. The turbocharged Saab's sophisticated Trionic engine-control system dialed the power back 9.8 percent on regular gas, and performance dropped 10.1 percent at the track."
But the effects of combustion chamber fouling over time were not addressed in this study. So the -ve impact may be more than noted with continued use of low octane fuel.
They did not state what exact 9-5 was used. And the dyno & track temperature corrections that they used may be less than useful when comparing NA and turbo engines. They did not document changes in temperatures for the tests.
