Just thought I'd share my experience from my commute home today (Day started with 45minutes to rip apart a door panel & lube the latch so the stupid door would close).
While on the highway, I pulled in front of a car which I thought was backing off to let me in front of him, but he then accelerates, flips on the high beams, and leans on the horn. I figure, OK 2-3 car lengths is too close for him, whatever. Then, he comes up next to me, leans out the window while screaming his head off and making various nice gestures, also comes halfway into my lane, so I'm forced to go into the "virtual 3rd lane" to avoid contact.
I end up in front of the guy on my exit ramp, and notice him leaning over into the passenger seat/footwell while we're driving down the ramp. At this point I realize I may be about to end up on the news, so I leave 30-40 feet between me & the car in front of me at the end of the ramp. So he stops, gets out of his car & starts running at me, still screaming his head off. Didn't really get time to look & see if he had a bat or gun in his hands.
Fortunately, I was about 150 yards from a highway patrol station, so I ducked in there. Unfortunately, I couldn't communicate to the trooper that he may want to run this guy down while he's still in motion. I had apparently misread the plate # while reading it backwards through my mirror, but they ran similar plates and later pulled up his driver's lic pic and printed it for me. Hwy patrol will be paying him a visit tonight, and turn everything over to the prosecutor. Unfortunately its kind of a he said/he said situation. Hopefully a visit from OHP will make him think a bit (doubtful).
I'm torn between feeling like I over reacted, and glad the crazy bastard didn't have a Glock in his glove box. Plus I'm really glad my kids weren't with me at the time.
People are just %^&%#$ crazy- let's be careful out there!!
