20 years ago was a much simpler time, before meth was popular and WWF babysat our youth. As I was going to visit my folks one day, I was followed by some guy pissed off with what we now call road rage. I was in a beat up Celica with a front seat that had collapsed, sitting me much lower (before that was in fashion for anything but Monte Carlos). Perhaps I cut this guy off when taking my freeway exit, I don't know, but he followed me the whole way with the "you're #1" wave going. When I was just down the street from my folks and realized he wasn't gonna stop following, I turned down a different street and stopped. He pulled in behind me and started to get out, then stopped when he saw me get out of my car. I was early 20s, 6'1", about 185, athletically active, and coming from a swim workout, so my chest and shoulders were nicely pumped up (all natural, no Andro!). It must have been surprising to see what initially looked like someone diminutive peering over the steering wheel suddenly unfold into my athletic frame, because his eyes suddenly changed from a bully's to a deer in the headlight. I walked over as he got back into his car and closed the door. I leaned against his car door and asked him to please leave the neighborhood forever. He sheepishly said something about how he just wanted to tell me to be careful about cutting people off. It ended quite quietly, no punches thrown or fenders dented.
I will always remember the surprise in his eyes when I got out and was not what he expected. No way would I do that today, given the medicated loonies out there, but it sure was fun in the good ol' days...
