Body on frame truck construction has always been less safe than unit-body (car) construction. I think it has to do with greater ability to design crumple zones in the unibody construction. It's interesting to do the side-by-side comparison on the NHTSA web site between the trailblazer and the Pacifica. not even close. I hope this doesn't dilute Saab's well-earned reputation for safety. (and don't even start me on accident avoidance and safety of those in the cars who get hit by big SUVs)
