it wasn't mine.

Took a Land Rover Discovery off-road on our last summer visit to Mt. Tremblant, north of Montreal. Let me tell you, what fun!!!

Land Rover and VW, in the Touareg, are the only two manufacturers that currently offer Hill Descention Assist/Control. It was pretty neat off-road (limits your speed to 5 km/h on a descent with no driver input other than steering). However, discussing it with others, when would you use it if not ever off-roading?! Maybe if you live on a hill and have a long driveway, but any other time? Oh well, but it just adds to the whole X% of those who buy SUVs do not "off-road" it, even if the $30K+ vehicles are made to do just that.

Playing Devil's Advocate, SUV does stand for Sport Utility Vehicle, and since each one's view of utility is different, Soccer moms, etc. are using their SUVs based on their definition of "utility."

Okay, enough of that. I just wanted to share my experience. To each their own! If I do go SUV (as a second addition to the Saab of course!), the Touareg is it, and maybe the Rover. I would love to consider this 9-7x if it did have some true off-roading capabilities! Otherwise, the hatch works just fine. The 9-7x looks good based on what was used. After all, it could have ended up looking like the Aztec!!
