but I say get the Viggen or something like an S4 if you plan to keep the car for awhile.

I have BMW friends and the maint is a pain. Always something wrong with the car.

As far as the M3, it is a wonderfully balanced car that is exceptionally enjoyable to drive. Go drive it on the track and you will know why just about every car magazine considers this one of the best cars in the world.

That said, it is not very roomy and pretty impracticle for a daily driver unless you never have to move anything but you, one other person, and a duffle bag.

But, this comes at a pretty hefty price. BMWs hold there value much better than SAABs or Audis. This is good for the buyer that flips cars quick. If you are like me and buy a few year old car and hold on to it forever (I have a cherry 90 SPG that is not going anywhere) then something like a SAAB or Audi is a great buy.

The SAAB is also quite practical for a daily driver. Hold 4 people comfortably (although ingress and egress from the back seats in a 3 Dr is not fun it is nice when you are back there) and has tons of space.

If you have the money to buy an 02 M3, then you can make a monster Viggen and get out cheap. Pick up the Viggen for less than 25K, the put on someones version of the VRK, a rear sway bar, and bump engine output to somewhere between 300-350 HP. You will have a car that is much faster at rolling starts or street acceleration than the M3. It will also have a very friendly easy to use power band, and your suspension upgrades will make it quite nice (though not quite up to the M3 standards). But, you get to pocket the extra money and wave at the M3 driver when you blow him away on the hiway. Besides, you won't likely pull up next to another Viggen.
