I hear ya, but cheaper doesn't always equal cheap Posted by Scott Paterson [Email] (#13) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Scott Paterson) on Mon, 17 May 2004 21:56:10 In Reply to: Move Open to Interpretation (Rumbling), Dan W, Mon, 17 May 2004 18:17:29 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
We saw that some precious few of us by the time 1993 rolled around appreciated the C900 quality and unique design, but the company was going to go out of business without some drastic changes like this... I owned four C900's and I'd buy more C900's if they made 'em again, but I'm guessing, as far as the car buying public goes, it's not enough to sustain a car company... That's obviously no excuse to go cheap, but cutting costs doesn't always equal cheap. For instance, it can equal getting a window switch for 1 million cars vs getting it for 50,000 and getting it at less than half the cost for the switches going into the Saabs... That's one benefit of having the leverage of a big company to negotiate with.
As for consumer demand, in Saab's case, with a record year for 2003 on the books and a coming sell out of the 9-2X... well, perhaps the answer isn't a definitive yes, but it's definitely maybe...
