Which was part of the Prius guy's point.
But it sounds like you don't drive all that "economically." Lots of high rpm shifts and full boosting is not gonna get you very good mileage. Then again, they are fun, and part of why we own Saabs! A day without full boost is a day wasted!
I have a 96 9k CSE 5-spd. I get 22-24 in local driving (semi-rural area, so not a lot of stop and go).
Steady highway at 80 with A/C and cruise on will get me 29 to 31, according to both the SCC and actual calculation. Running 85 drops me to about 27-28 mpg.
Steady highway at 75 with A/C and cruise is 34-35. Never drive 65 for very long, so I don't know what that'll do. (I probably ought to test it to see.)
My buddy with a NG 900 Turbo coupe regularly sees 30-33 mpg at 70 to 75.
But note the word steady. I know if I am not on cruise and always adjusting speed due to traffic (or being aggressive!) the mileage drops.
But then wind can make a difference. In April I was going to Rochester NY on the NY Thruway. A 30+ mph cross wind between Syracuse and Rochester took 4 mpg off the mileage, according to the trip computer. I could watch the fuel mileage drop even though I was on steady cruise at about 78 mph.
