It would seem possible that one could be considered overly indulgent by owning a Saab when there are so many generic transportation choices for less.
So what justification did Bob use for his Saab? And does Bob appreciate a Saab enough to own one? I mean a Saab is an overly expensive import for some, or the only reasonable import for others.
As a young man almost mortgage free, it sounds like Bob will have more than enough time to secure his financial goals and perhaps should consider living a little now. There are no guarantees that by the time Bob secures his future, that he will be able to enjoy himself like he can now. Middle age is no detriment to fun. I'm 51 and I still enjoy all the pursuits of my youth, I haven't had to scale back, but other folks aren't so lucky.
Probably one of the biggest paradigm shifts Bob has to look forward to is starting a family. It's a powerful genetic drive that's hard to ignore and nowadays you see lots of folks who don't succomb until their 40's. So maybe now is the time to indulge and set aside some frugality.
It's funny how one persons indulgence is another persons minimum requirement, back to owning a Saab vs other cars type of a thing. Is there an over indulgent side of Bob waiting to bust out that he needs to control? I am always amazed at the amount of money folks spend finding inner peace and widom at retreats, resorts and seminars.
I know a personal coach who calls his company "Balancing Act" because that's really what it's all about, achieving a balance on many levels.
His favorite saying for me is that "In the end, you'll never wish you worked more." Working with a personal coach is becoming very popular as a systematic, personalized plan can focus our productivity and give us an external objective measure of our life plans, therapy and organization for the healthy in one sense. We pay so many professionals for advice, but seldom for the most basic life questions that a personal coach can help explore.
