guy in Texas is probably fine, carrying a load of cash is not cool. You probably are being overly concerned, but better to be safe.
Talk to your bank and see how they can help. Banks have various mutual agreements fro this kind of thing. Just do the deal on a weekday so the banks will be open and the seller can see the money land in his account. I suspect his bank can talk to your bank so you never learn his account number and it is all done electronically. I have clients who pay me this way every month.
There is also Western Union (altho they may have $ limits).
There are ways for Red850Guy to do this without a wad of cash in his bags.
