the past year and half. I don't have a television (or a "stereo" for that matter) but use a projector through my computer if I want to watch TV or a movie (XP pack II, Asus A7N8X, 2700 Barton running at 3000, 1GB 3200 RAM, 400 FSB).

The video capture feature from ATI usually works but there's been a darn lot of bugs with the drivers. ATI's latest Multi Media Center seems to have addressed many of the problems I've had. Although in the past it's been a major pain and caused me some strife when my girlfriend comes-over to watch a movie and I have to spend an hour or two re-loading the stupid drivers--which never unloaded correctly so I'd always end-up in the registry mucking around with things I don't have the time to 100% understand.

I've also tried their TV Wonder VE PCI tuner. It worked, but didn't have native remote control features and was extremely audibly noisy when startng or stopping. It was severe enough that I was concerned for my speakers when starting the program without first turning-down my power amp.

So although ATI has the best processor and a bunch of on-board RAM in my opinion it's still a mixed-bag when you consider their software.

I know it's not in the spirit of what you're trying to do but your motherboard looks to be pretty old. And I could be wrong because I've never played with a 2XAGP, but I think you might want to consider stepping-up to a version with a faster AGP provision to do what you're trying to do. Is an XP 700 socket A?

Heck, if you're interested in that piece of junk VE, I still have the box too, send me email--it will do what you want at the most basic level, it's even mono too I think.
