It all depends on what type of vehicle you are selling and what area you reside in. I'll do my best to elaborate on this for just a bit, so please bear with me.
First of all, if you are selling a Honda Accord or some other cookie-cutter vehicle, the quickest sale would probably come from parking the car near a well-traveled road and placing a "For Sale" sign in/on it (so long as it is legal). I travel a road nearly every day that always has a number of cars for sale parked near it and they usually don't last more than a week. The local newspaper would also be a good route to take, but I certainly wouldn't spend my time, effort, and money into creating an ad for a larger-scale audience, such as eBay, AutoTrader, etc.
On the other hand, if you are selling a Saab, the larger-scale audience is probably what you want to go after. I live in an area that has VERY few Saabs, so nobody would have any interest in it locally, anyway. If you live in a Saab-populated area, however, you might just have better luck with the park-and-sell method.
I suppose the point I'm trying to make is that there are a number of variables involved in selling a vehicle quickly and efficiently. There is no certain way to sell a vehicle, so you must always analyze your situation, the geographic area in which you are located, and the market demand for your car. Either method can work better than the other...there's the point we've been looking for.
Feel free to respond at-will or provide any comments you may have regarding my utterly profound statements. Thanks for reading...drive safely, and KEEP ON SAABING!!!
