Used to be lots and lots of interesting cars, French cars, Italian Cars, British cars, German cars and Swedish cars and those as a group were generally regarded as unreliable and expensive to fix compared to Japanese and American cars.
Now the most unique car you can get is a Saab. German cars have moved up market, even VW with the Pheaton, and British cars only survive because of Ford or the Germans.
One of the reasons Saab is a survivor is reliability. Saabs have moved into the mainstream of reliable European sedans, dealers aren't paticularly scarce, and Saabs are recommended by many consumer websites and magazines and do well in JD Power surveys.
Never has the most unique car commonly availible been thought of so well. Doesn't mean Saabs are perfect, but many cars youda' thought were more reliable, like many Japanese cars, aren't.
And Saabs have always been safer and more durable. And where else can you micro manage every conceivable foible on such a friendly well run BB?
