I think Roger and I are talking about the same winter storms of the recent past. There are now 9 inches of snow in my (long) driveway, and the Gislaved Nordfrost II-equipped 9-5 goes through it nicely. Incidentally, these are 16-in snow tires and I probably would have gone to 15s had I not gotten a deal on these. It's probably not a good idea to go w/ 17-inch snows and definitely not a good idea to try to "go wide," i.e., a narrower tread-width tire nearly always performs better than does a wide one. BTW, I, too, had Nokian WRs on our earlier 9-5 and they went well through the deep stuff, too. One thing that both do is a good job in freeway slush, often at multi-inch depth. Also, try to avoid soft-sidewall tires as they take a bit of getting used to with their squirminess on dry pavement. Good luck. DKH
