tires. If it snows or ices over, just take a public transit. You can get away with performance tires. If you drive over the pass quite a bit, than you might want to get the all season/weather tires.
When the pass advised "traction tires required" that just means you can't be driving around with your performance tires. I get away with my Bridgestone Turanza.
You might want to get some tires that can handle better in wet next time you buy a set of tires, but I think you should be fine with the stock tires.
Just drive slowly and cautiously when wet/snow/slushes and don't believe the weatherman. We are not gonna see the white stuff tomorrow :)
