My experience is increasingly the same -- drivers just seem to be
increasingly arrogant and inconsiderate of anyone else on the road that's
smaller / slower / older / younger / than they are. Even with the very icy
roads we have now, drivers still tailgate, speed, run red lights, etc, in
complete apparent self-centred bliss and/or rage.
My guess is that part of it that we're seeing the result of people 'learning'
to drive from computer games where speed and an FU-attitude is
everything. With bigger, better, and safer vehicles (and its not just the
FUV drivers), people feel they can take greater risks and get away with
it. Pretty much the same attitude 3-I that can often be attributed to
teenage males (invincable, immortal, and impotent).
I must be getting old...
