1) you/we :
- Are probably the type of person who has enough money, time, and patience to invest in some cult-like status symbol of a vehicle.
- Probably a fool for doing it [all over again].
- Live in an area where the perceived need for a unique identity outweighs the need for practical transportation.
- Make unjust generalizations of people who drive other types of vehicles.

2)the manufacturer of the car you/we are driving:
- Knows you'll buy another one and so will move on to 'conquest sales'.
- Will spend more money on advertising your car to you and your image to others.
- Will spend less money on solving existing problems and preventing new ones because they know most of us will buy their next well-promoted car before the extended warranty they proffered up will expire.

* I started out thinking only of the stereotypical image of a modern Saab driver but quickly realized any person driving any type of car can easily fit into these generalized generalizations that most of us make.

** I also only made these generalizations because I read your previous posts and figured you are the calibre of person who can take these generalizations with a grain of salt, or three.

I'll also add that I drive an `87 900 with $200-$300 worth of electronic parts and tools in the trunk, as well. My next cars will probably be older and less reliable or slightly newer but still not any more reliable. Both Saabs.

I guess the only thing that might set us apart from other drivers is that we carry car parts in our trunks and think are cars are airplanes; but that probably isn't true, either, generally speaking.
