I've been doing 60 hours a week for the past month and am currently on my fifteenth day straight without a day off. I have a big deadline this week and can't afford time off until that's done. I'm a real slacker by nature, so this is pretty hard on me. It's hard on SilverAeroGuy too, as my schedule has meant that his cook/maid has suddenly relinquished her duties. Thank goodness I'm not anyone's mom, I don't know how people with kids do it.
The problem...the problem here isn't that I mind the work so terribly much. People's jobs can be downsized, outsourced, offshored, etc., and I know that there are a lot of people who wish they had "too much" work to do. The problem is that I'm salaried, so all of this time is simply my loss and my company's gain at no added cost to them. My manager said she was "sorry" but does sorry get me my summer weekends back? Does sorry pay my bills and clean my house? So I'm a little grumpy these days.
