recommended maintenance intervals. I've had several cars back in the days of points and carbs that needed very regular maintenance. Chassis, ujoints,and front end Lube jobs when doing oil changes, which were 2500 miles tops.
This meant that the cars were in the shop more often...
I'll never forget the first time I drove an old gf's jeep and heard bearing knock. Pulled over and had nothing on the dipstick. Turned out she hadn't had an oil change in nearly 2 years (20Kmiles), and despite the full serve stations she used, hadn't had it checked, either. I don't think we ever got the sludge out of it with MANY oil changes and a flush or two.
