I got boned by an idiot pulling an empty car trailer in rush hour traffic. He tried jumping the que (with a trailer) and I sounded the horn to let him know that he was going to hit me with his trailer. The guy flipped at the sound of my horn and threw his Range Rover into my lane. He was yelling at me through the glass and and gesturing. Finally traffic in front of him pulled away and he started to move. As he pulled away, his trailer scraped along my front fender and removed some paint from the wheel arch. I was pissed. I followed him and flashed my high beams. He pulls over, jumps out of his truck and says, "Oh, did my trailer hit your car?!?!?" He showed me his SCCA race car drivers license, tells me how he's a race car driver (BMW) and how he always gets his way when he's driving. I basically told him to shut up and sit in his truck. He initially refused to give his drivers license and insurance info. I called the cops. Then he tried to buddy up with me. Turns out we had some common acquantances and he became very apologetic. The cop showed up about an hour later, took one look at my car and filled out a non-determinant accident report - since the damage was so minor. The guy who hit me told me to go to his buddy who works on his race car and he would take care of it. His buddy quotes me $500 for a respray and I call Mr. Jackass. He says he's now going to let his insurance company handle it. I say OK. His insuarnce company calls me and does a phone report. I tell them my story. They call back and say that our stories don't match and they're not paying anything. So now I have a scraped wheel arch.
Long story short, the guy who hit me has no honor. He's part of the Problem and it simply was not worth the hassle and expense to get my car fixed by him. That's the way he chooses to be. The world is there to serve him. Well, we'll see how well that works out in the real long run. I read some travel report about how rude people are becoming. Some hotel operators reported people demanding full refunds due to non-existant defects (the curtains being the wrong color). One hotel manager said he fought them for a while but now just gives out the refund. When asked how he could give such arse-holes their money back, he replied "That's what hell is for." That's how I feel about this individual.
I suppose I could call the FBI and leave an anonomous "Patriot Act" tip-off...
