Unless you expect a lot of foot traffic, I'd suggest reflective street numbers instead of illuminated street numbers. People in cars, ambulances, firetrucks, etc.. will have their own illumination and reflective numbers should be very helpful. You could illuminate the area too... A bright outdoor light will attract insects, and then bats in my area toward the end of summer. I love to watch bats swoop, but my wife hates it.
As far as lighting, if it's predominantly for function, highlight steps, corners and other things that might cause someone to fall down in the dark.
If you live in an area that gets snow, don't put lights in the ground near snow pile locations or plowed areas. If you have a grille outside, you may want a light there too.
Personally, I'd put in motion sensors hooked up to incandescant floodlights so not to waste energy when not in use and to suprise/reveal someone sneaking up. Given sufficient height, floodlights aren't too bright.
Low voltage is good as it doesn't require a professional electrician and carry any voltage hazard in the outdoor wiring. It doesn't matter to me, because I'd install it to the same quality regardless of the voltages carried. I'd stay away from the battery/solar lights. Solar is super cool, but I don't expect the tiny batteries to last forever charging and discharging.
