I spoke with the landlord. He is a workmen type that will argue with everything no matter what I say and is used to talking down to everyone that is not a workmen. There are two meters that clock when we call for heat. He claims they both run if we both call and that neither run when the boiler goes on just to make hot water or keep the water hot for the heat.
Any suggestions on how to convince this guy that his method is bogus? We have little more space (240 sq ft over an unheated garage and about 20 sq ft over the boiler/laundry room). There are also two unheated stairwells and an unheated foyer of about 20 sq ft. This guy tells me cold air doesn’t rise so cold air below us is not relevant. He also says hot air below us makes no difference. Then he complains we have stuff blocking the radiators acting as insulators and that this is why we use more heat. He thinks I just don’t want to pay as opposed to wanting to pay what is fair. Should I say I won’t pay more than 55% unless he gets an engineer to validate his system and methodology?
