The Panny is nice, as is the Samsung, but if you have the cash, I'd say Pioneer. They have a 43" thats fantastic. Its a little spendy but judging from the image and reveiws I've read, its worth it. I also read somewhere that Pioneer is putting a 5 year warranty on their Plasma sets. Check their site for details. Also be aware that there's a rumor going around that Pioneer is leaving the consumer plasma market. Not sure if there's any truth to it, or if it even matters. but something to at least be aware of.
All that being said, I think the Pannasonic is a fantastic set for the money. I liked the Samsung, but there was just something about the Panny that drew me in. Most new plasmas are rated at 60,000 hours, so take the half life of that (30,000) and it adds up to a LOT of viewing. Between 10-15 years in most cases (depends on how much TV you watch). The days of short-life Plasma sets are fortunately behind us.
I agonized over a TV decision for months, and it was down to the Pannasonic plasma and a Samsung DLP set. I went DLP for other reasons, but thats another post :-)
Note: Get the extended warranty. I usually don't touch them, but in the case of Saabs and relatively new, expensive TV technology, I think its a safe bet :-)
