An Impala I recently rented was 200% improved over the last horrible version (interior, namely). It's still an aged platform underneath but it wasn't a bad performer, and this was the base model. A Pontiac G6, though, I recently rented was pitiful, both in interior quality and drivetrain (based model). So GM is getting better unevenly, but they have made some big leaps. I used to only rent Fords, but I've grown ever-so-weary with the Taurus, so I've tried anew. Even though I loathe big SUVs, the new interiors of the Tahoe, etc. look much, much improved. Transfer that over to Saab, please. I like the relative "no flash" of 9-3ss interior but it needs to step up a bit with the quality of plastics, carpeting and the like. It's not that difficult and it's necessary for the price point. I'm still sort of amazed that the dash of the new 9-5 is now hard plastic if I'm reading postings correctly. Shameful if true.
