When I was shopping about 2 years ago Best Buy & HH Gregg were really pushing the LG line. I wasn't interested because I new they were made in China & I wanted to support a US company. Thus I went with Whirlpool & I ahve been VERY pleased.
I purchased the extended warrantee from Best Buy (both my units were scratch & dent.... like I can tell) & my drier crapped out on me last week actually. I talked to the tech & he stated this almost never happends especially what broke/failed on mine, it was the motherboard. I actually discussed whirlpool, LG & others & he stated that all he will own is whirlpool because from what he sees they are the best built.
Another good thing with whirlpool is if something happends where it breaks parts are available here in the states (motherboard arrived in 3 days). He stated with LG & other foreign units many times the spare parts are not stored in the states & it can take weeks to get a replacement from chine/japane/etc.
