how do you feel about owning the last generation

of a car. For example I own 99 9-3 and my wife has 04 9-3 linear. I love my car but it feels a bit dated compared to my wifes. But I love my interior and would think about a 9-5 near the end of it's life cycle.
The three cars that I anticipate considering are
a 08/09 93portcombi-but I may want a more substanial heavy duty car. My wife gets carsick in mine-usually not in hers though. Love the agility of the small car though and also the fuel mileage.
08/09 Saturn Aura wagon. updated epsilon platform, great engine, good looks (I assume)ok mileage, good seats, nice size very new. Good safety most likely. might lack a few thing like the 07 such as pass through for backseat and maybe not quite as upscale as the saab-no loaners shorter warranty etc.
OR the last 9-5 sportcombi. No side curtain airbags. Some well known worries such as that abs business. Seems like sludge and DIC issue is probably over. Like the update well enough. Great engine, great seats, excellent fuel economy, years have worked out all bugs etc.
The 30 thousand dollar question I guess is especially for 9000 owners but others may please weigh in.
How do you feel about your car the past 10 years?
Do you feel out of date or like you are missing something by not having the newer model?
Im ok with my 99 9-3 hatch because of its uniqueness. I will keep my next car about 10 years.
But how does the 9-5 compare at this point in its life cycle and over the next years?
I am thinking well in advance but this is occupying too much of my time thinking about this.
thanks in advance
