Other than safety and the lack of some infotainment features (in some cases), there's nothing wrong with buying the last year of a generation of a car. In fact, one might say that all the bugs have been worked out. Plus, you'll get great discounts before the next generation of vehicles comes out. Sure it will look somewhat dated, but it will look more like a classic too. I love the design of my 06 9-3 SportCombi but the classic look of my 97 900 S even more, especially since it's a design that first came out in 1994. In a few months, it will have a 10-year old design which is kind of cool.
