I agree with this. Plus, it's better to get into the habit of using your rear view mirrors to change lanes, instead of relying on shoulder checks. Ever driven a box truck or a cargo van or similar type vehicle with no side or rear windows? Shoulder checks are virtually useless in this case. I drove a vehicle like this for years due to my job. I had my mirrors set wide and also had small blind spot mirrors attached to these mirrors. I can honestly say that over these years (to the best of my recollection) that I NOT ONCE started to change lanes and found another car to be there--because I had a good mirror set up. Ironically, I find myself doing this more often in my SAAB (still, not very often, maybe once or twice a year) since the mirrors are simply not as large as those found on trucks. Honestly, I feel more confident changing lanes in a "big truck" due to the better mirror configuration.
