rent cars often. I see the driver loading my bag as part of his job, like the counter agent for the airline. And the drivers never offload your bag. And I don't care if he takes my bag as I get on the bus. I do it myself about half the time anyway.
I know I'm cheap, but I think the same way at hotels. I can get my own bag out of the trunk of the car or cab, roll it in to the front desk, and manage to get it to my room without help.
I don't like the whole tipping thing for minor services, especially when traveling. I do tip the person who cuts my hair and I tip 15-20% for meals (in the U.S.), but avoid tipping wherever possible.
