I hope I helped in the past.... I agree with you and Jeff, and I am somewhat inclined (OK, very inclined) to ignore unsolicited advice from others. However, in this case my advise was maybe "semi-solcited" since he asked a clerk for assistance and the clerk could offer none.
No, he only knew that I also owned Saabs and might have concluded I do some of my own maintenance by the venue of our encounter and the stuff in my cart.
It doesn't bother me that he didn't heed the advise I offered, more that the advise provided by the individual he trusted more was bad, and that it might result in engine damage and Saab bashing sometime in the future.
A question I didn't think to ask until much later was "Why aren't you getting this work performed under warranty with such a new car?"
And, (more troubling to me), my advise may have been completely wrong if he owns a 9-2X. I have no idea what coolant is recommended that model.
I should have asked more questions, or kept my mouth shut, but I enjoy helping others and don't get a chance to meet many other Saab owners in person - even in Ann Arbor where the brand is somewhat common.
