You're not alone. It's really amazing the types of things that floor sales-people tell potential customers. I try to keep my big mounth shut (and sometimes I do) but in the past I've listened in the background and then approached the potential customer after the conversation and corrected the mis-information. Usually it depends upon whether I think the sales person was being deliberately misleading or was just BS'ing like some salespeople do.
I restrained myself and didn't butt-in on this one (the GF and I were looking at laptops for her) but the most recent time I can think-of was when the sales guy was standing there telling an older lady that the difference between an AMD64 machine and the less expensive Celeron machine was that they were the same but the frame was a little different.
I'm not 50 y/o but I am an engineer. We're probably looking at a problem that analytical type people have. Meanwhile the rest of the world looks-on and goes, "Knock it off and mind your own business. What's your problem anyway?" Ha ha, or maybe that's just my girlfriend. :)
