and it's not only OLD structures - e.g. the tunnel ceiling panels in Boston.
We need to find a way to efficiently spend our public money on projects needed to maintain our country. Buildings, roads, infrastructure, etc. are all falling apart. Money goes where it doesn't belong. Politicians, bureaucracy, all sorts of things are at fault here.
Billions are going to war.
In VT we have bridges closed already that are failing inspections, or single lane/one way to limit weight when they really need to be replaced. Of course this is all over the country. Money isn't spent where it's meant to be, or it isn't available. And when it is, specs are followed, corners are cut.
Levees fail, nobody takes the blame, and nobody wants to spend the money to protect one of our nation's largest and most unique cities (for example).
School buildings are unsafe - falling down around our children.
ok - the list goes on and on.
How do we turn this around????
