I catch squirrels all the time and relocate across the bridge in a park full of pine trees with pine nuts.
As far as cats, they are a source of pest control. The month our half ferral cat died, squirrels chewed through the slate roof and cost us 5 grand. We relocate cats by adopting a large one. Usually one with scars and a large head and claws (no joke). The rest then stay away, as do the vermin. Usually, after a year, the adopted cat calms down and tolerates petting. At that point it gets its shots and a vassectomy.
Might I suggest you buy a Maine Coon Cat? They are up to 30 pounds. Buy a male (or two) as a kitten, keep it inside until it learns the property, and then let it out to fight. Soon you will find the problem has sorted itself out on its own.
I am being serious. A Maine Coon Cat is an awesome predator and with 2 inch paws is a ferocious force of nature. It is also a beautiful long haired cat that survives Winter like a wildcat. They are territorial and good pets.
You could always invite your neighbor over for breakfast in the yard, and set up the table in the center of a circle of cat crap.
