What Ian and Mark say is true, but don't let it bother you. Most cars made today are made by companies that use chassis/platforms, engines, transmissions, etc., across multiple models. Ford and Mazda and Volvo share a huge amount of stuff. And cars are made all over the place. Lots of VWs and their parts come from Mexico and Brazil. Some Mercedes and BMW models are made in the US.
And big parts companies supply parts to many manufacturers. The GM parts box for your Saab's air filter, for example has a filter made by a company called Valeo, and the fuel filter comes from Bosch. You stability control and ESP system is a version of the one used in Mercedes.
No worries. You're driving a fine Swedish Saab. And should anyone harass you, tell them your car is probably worth more to the company's bottom line than some Chevy or Pontiac.
