GM bought 50% of Saab in 1989/90 depending on whether you go by the announcement or the signature, it bought the remaining 50% ten years later. The Saab 900 (called now the Classic 900, or C900) before the GM involvement was made through 1993 (convertible 1994). GM rolled out the "New Generation" NG900 in 1994, which was an Opel (GM Germany) with a Saab Engine. Your 9-3 is a continuation of NG900 with a different name. Are you driving a real Saab? there is only one way to answer the question, you need to examine and ride a C900. Compare the C900 and your 9-3 side-by-side. Have the C900 owner explain some of the design thinking went into its development. Sleep over it and then you can answer that question yourself. What do I think?, after 28 years of Saabs, I now have three C900's, one 9000, but no GM Saab's. I dread the day when all my real Saabs have run into their graves and I have nothing to replace them.
