Back in 5th grade I got an LL Bean back pack. By about 9th grade it was pretty beat, one of the zippers had come off, the edges were worn out and loose strings were starting to fall out. After 4 years I thought that was pretty good but we called them to get a new one and they gave us a credit for what we paid for the old one toward the new one no questions asked. We just had to send the old one back in the packaging the new one came in.
Someone else I know had some work boots that after a few years of use he completely destroyed and they sent him brand new boots, again no questions asked.
Then my mom sent my grandparents one of those little real table-top Christmas trees in a box one year. She sent it to their Florida address but something came up for them and they came back to their CT house. She called to cancel the order, but they had already shipped it. So they sent ANOTHER tree to their CT address at no charge. My grandparents told their Florida neighbors they could have the tree.
I'm surprised they're giving you a hard time, we've always had very good luck with LL Bean.
