Since GM and the other of the big 3 have totally ignored diesel production engines in the US market, including Saab, I doubt I'll like what I find. As we've seen in several posts here, almost all gas driven engines (without hybrid technology) get essentially the same mileage, diesel is the best chance to decrease usage until mass transit falls into place. Personally, I will not buy a hybrid since the manufacturing of the batteries is one of the worst polluting industries on the planet. A good diesel engine, made to run on a variety of fuels, should serve us well, particularly when put into small passenger cars. I'd love to have a Smart diesel, but our EPA has decided they're too dirty. I question that as I sit next to an F-350 carrying one person, belching out black plumes of who knows what.
OK, I'll end the rant here. You get the idea.
