I remember the temperature was not unlike today except you could not see a cloud anywhere in the NY metropolitan area. There was bright sunshine everywhere. It was a typical busy day for me immersed in a project in my office 40 miles west of Manhattan in suburban NJ. Like many people when our secretary came to tell me a plane hit the Tower I thought it was just an accident. The cloudless day did not register in my head. When she said the Pentagon was hit I realized it was not an accident anymore. By that time internet was already jammed by traffic.
I did not believe it when people said the twin tower has collapsed. The mass of an airplane is too small compared to the building I said. Even if it is a commercial jet. I found out it was true only when I got home around 8 o'clock watching TV and realized what had happened.
There were at least two people I know who perished in the attack along with close to 3,000 other people. One is a former colleage. Another lives in my town who works in the 90th some floor in Tower 1.
