So we had a dry well over Christmas, prior to 15 guests arriving for dinner.
We had just accommodated 4 extra guests, gradually over the previous days, so we had some additional usage of course (not to mention dishwasher running constant all day).
We are 3 living here, someday to be 2, we hope, without tragedy.
427ft well, pump depth 400ft, 1.5gal/ft
zone-fractured in '05 (before we purchased) resulted in 1.6G/min, hydro fractured when dug 1994.
Water level has recovered, last few days up to 140ft below surface (been gaining about 30 gals/day, I figure we're close to upper level).
We're conserving, to say the least, only permanent changes I anticipate are reducing toilet tank capacity, maybe lowflow showers heads and (GULP!) maybe wash my car less frequently in summer months (need another excuse to purchase a Ducati Monster anyway).
Options, from less to more expensive:
Do nothing
another 'Zone Frac'
drill deeper, install larger pump (guarantees more storage at least)
drill another well, no guarantees of course $8K-$9K estimate
Well folks I'm working with seem like good folks, appreciate my interest
and understanding.
So what are your wise thoughts, i know there are experts here!
