a poster of about 30 old VW ads, including the snowplow one. I've had it on the wall in several of my offices over the past 30 years. It reminds me that the strongest marketing messages are often the simplest, that it can be OK to poke fun at your own product, and powerful marketing and advertising can make something very ordinary seem extraordinary. A copywriter named Bill Bernbach wrote many of those ads and they remain classics of American advertising.
VWs were not only good in snow. I drove through a puddle about 50 feet long and deep enough for the water to be breaking over the tops of the headlights. I was surprised the damn thing didn't start floating. Took my brakes (drums all around) a couple days to really dry out!
