Think about what you would need to do to start a car company.
Man oh man, you're talking thousands of employees and billions of dollars.
Now, think about building your own PC company. You don't need any
employees and you can start with maybe $5,000 of initial capital.
The PC is a much newer technology. What has been done with PC industry
can and should be done with car industry.
GM can help defray the cost of their platforms (like the Epsilon platform)
by selling it to other car companies. God knows, GM needs the money.
Why can't things be standardized and commoditized? Why can't I take out
a part from a Toyota and stick it on a Chevy? We should Allow market
forces and competition to drive down costs. I'm talking cost savings of
something like 90%.
It's all so byzantine and anachronistic. It's so 20th century.
