So hard to choose!!! I drive a 99 9-3 now, had a C900 before it. I just turned 100,000 in the 9-3 & it runs like a top but I must disclose it has had several significant repairs - headgasket being the worst. I didn't think at the time and I don't think now that it's appropriate for a car to blow a headgasket at 60k miles. The transmission is definitely better for the 9-3, ask me how I know!! I have found that lots of repairs and maintenance are easily done DIY on the 9-3 so that's a plus. But in general, the NG900/OG9-3's service records should be complete or be prepared for possible significant repairs.
Regarding the "saabness" issue, there is some saabness left over in the NG900/OG9-3's but not as much as with the C900. But it is a saab. Mine is a T5 motor, as I understand it the sludging issues are with the T7's (99 Viggen & 2000+ 9-3).
Would I have an NG900/OG9-3 over a C900? Well I guess the answer is yes, because I drive a 99 9-3, but I'd like to have a C900 & I will one day when I can afford 'em both :)
