get a good used one as many suggested or will suggest. You don't know whether your daughter will continue when she gets older.
I have two samples (my two daughters) and two prior samples (my two sisters) and one even closer sample (my one and only wife).
We bought a Baldwin (made in USA) upright when our first daughter started playing, it was a reasonably good piano.
Then one of my sisters, who once was a concert level pianist decided to move overseas to a climate not agreeable with her piano so we inherited her lovely upright Steinway (made in USA).
One day Daughter #1 declared she hated piano since day 1, even thought she won every piano competition she participated in, gave up piano when she reached 15.
Daughter #2 following daughter #1's footsteps, won every competition she participated in, now she thinks she hates piano but still pounds out tunes on the old Steinway. We still have the Baldwin and #2 plays show tunes on it once in a while as the Baldwin has a much lighter action than the Steinway.
Wife wants to keep both pianos no matter what, told me she used to play when she was young.... yeah like I have a couple of broken PCs I intend of fixing but they just sit there going obsolete in no time flat.
Oh, I forgot my mother, pushing 80, has two pianos as well. She kept the old no-name brand piano for sentimental reasons as my father, who recently passed away, bought her that piano plus both my sisters played on it. She bought a Bechstein upright a few years ago, it's a piece of art and a great sounding piano, made in Germany of course with shiny black gloss finish and all. She can buy any expensive piano she wants, she has money and she's my mother.
If you like to showcase a piano sitting in your house, by all means, get something expensive and nice looking. Ask someone who actually plays to sound out the pianos, it doesn't matter if it's Chinese, Korean, Japanese.... They all make some fine pianos. You can always get a Bechstein or a Steinway or a Yamaha ....anything in that class.
But I think the best piano is always the one someone plays on 8-).
