Here's an unusual off topic question for my wise SAABNET friends. I work for a small, but growing, firm that provides a specialty service, mainly to the Federal Government. As with any growing company, there are growing pains, but much of the pain is self inflicted. One or two key individuals in a key client have become aware of some of the issues going on. There has been some significant staff turnover (always has been, but in a very short time, 70% of the faces this key guy sees have left, so it's become more apparent.) I have a good professional relationship built up with the key individuals I mentioned earlier, and today one of them asked me about what was going on. I faced a crisis of conscience between telling the whole truth and a politically correct PR version. I chose the latter - what I reported was true, but there was more than I said. My question is this - should I tell the full story to my company's client? His organization is grooming the company to become a key contractor of theirs; he does not know because it's been hidden that the objective of the company's management and ownership is purely to reach X market capitalization, and then sell out, most likely to a competitor, and quite possibly to one of the client's existing contractors. Of course, this could happen anyway, without it being an avowed intent, but, when it IS the objective, it does pose a moral dilemma to me. What should I do? Due to the unscrupulous nature of this company, I'm not going to stick around. I'll likely never cross paths with these folks again. I like, admire and respect them, personally and professionally. I want to do the right thing for them, and I feel not sharing what I know with them is not doing the right thing. What does the collective sage wisdom of the SAAB community think? I have used a name other than my usual posting name, and I use a common ISP, though, I know if somebody wants it wouldn't be difficult to figure out what I normally post as. I've been around for 10 years!
