I had a couple of Rodeos when I had my car business and at 115K it's a long ways from being a money pit. You don't need much of a car for a ten mile commute and it shouldn't cost much to keep it going for another 50K--especially compared to buying another car. As others have suggested renting for trips is actually kind of fun. Mechanics tend to only see the problem children so I don't agree with your guys' accessment of Subarus--I don't know that they are perfect but they're hard to beat for the application you describe. I sure like my 3.0H6 Outback a lot. I'm not as impressed with Toyota quality as I once was. My boss has a 4 Runner that I take care of and at 70K the interior looks terrible and the bodywork is really pretty cheesey for a $40K car. Keep what you have--it's always easy to get in hock, not so easy to get out.
