Sorry for the delay - I don't know if anyone is reading this thread anymore, but I thought I'd chime in with our thoughts.

We drove the (2006 or 2007) Rav4: Build quality felt solid, interior was uncomfortable, wasn't a great "ride". Not bad overall, but expensive for what you get (short term. Long term I'm sure the toyota quality pays off).

We drove a CRV (2006): Ride was great. Didn't feel underpowered or tin-like as I thought it might. The interior looks like something from 1988. It was the ugliest thing EVER. hard plastic, cubbies, etc. The ride and power was good for a 4cyl, and it was quiet going down the road. I was a little disappointed that the dealer had not had an alignment done. It pulled and anyone would have noticed. No big deal. We weren't buying anyway.

We then drove a 2007 Mazda CX7: Car like ride (on rails), great interior, perfect size (not to SUV like, but more ground clearance then a car). It was a little noisy with the snows from the previous owner, but the engine and tranny were smooth. 4cyl turbo, 6 speed auto. The gas mileage isn't great at 19-22, but not far off anything else, and she only drives 10 miles a day.

So, after doing some research we're looking at a 2008 (07 was the first model year) cx7. Hopefully the perfect car for us (we want it to be our primary vehicle, not just her 10 mile commuter) and it would put 3 turbo's in the driveway!!!

Thanks for all the opinions. Especially the guy who said Porsche (hehe). Actually, I had not considered the renting option, but that's not a bad idea either. Unfortunately, I'm more of a "let's go" kind of guy, so being slowed down by the 30-45 minutes it takes to rent a car would get old fast. I can't find enough hours in the day as it is.

I'll post a picture when we've found our new addition. And if anyone in Vermont wants a well maintained Rodeo let me know. It just had the water pump, timing belt, intake gasket, and some other stuff done about a year ago!

Best,
Liam
