DQR: Durability, Quality and Reliability Posted by Bill Homer [Email] (#3427) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bill Homer) on Sat, 4 Sep 2010 10:34:16 In Reply to: Corporate nuttiness, No Snaab, Sat, 4 Sep 2010 09:51:55 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
They aren't going to accomplish ANYTHING with their current DQR. VW's cars are wonderfully "engineered", if driving quality is the only concern. However for the majority of car buyers this is not their main criteria, and VW/Audis have a very bad reputation for requiring a lot of expensive, time consuming service - ask me about our Audi A4, which shares a platform with the Passat. From the article:
The J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study — how well 3-year-old cars are holding up — shows the VW brand generally inching up the past few years. Even so, it was near last — 34 out of 36 brands — in the 2010 study.
Audi's score slipped this year and it wound up 26th.
Power's Initial Quality Survey — a measure of problems in the first 90 days of ownership — showed VW dropping after several years of improvement and landing 31st of 33 brands sold here.
Audi did better on the IQS, scoring just below the industry average and placing 12th.
