I put my employers new Rav 4 in storage about 9 months ago. It has one of these keyless setups. Fortunately I didn't lock it so it wasn't a problem, but what do you do if you lock one of these things and the battery goes dead? How do you get in it? I know that a car just isn't cool if it doesn't have the keyless ignition thing but what really is the appeal? Is using a key such an unbearable chore (you have to have the key fob anyway)? If these things screw up it's probably going to be when you need the car the most--like in the middle of a blizzard when the car has been sitting at an airport for two weeks. With a key you can get a jump start, with that thing you're screwed, you can't even get inside of it. Given that inevitible drawback, is starting the car with a button really so wonderful? Maybe I'm getting to be a crusty old fart but I just don't get it.
