Drunks can spend a lot more than 30 seconds fumbling for their keys I imagine. Especially the wildly intoxicated.
Remote door locks had already undoubtedly helped alot in this area. No more trying to repeatedly get the key in the key hole wasting time and risking the chance of a cop spotting you. Keyless ignition takes it one step further; no longer does one have to worry about the embarrassment of passing out in the car in the parking lot while trying to figure out how to get the key in such a little slot.
For smart phone users it is a godsend too. That 15 seconds they had to pause to get their keys in between texting while walking across the parking lot and getting the car started was a real productivity killer.
Personally I am not sold on these things for a number of reasons. For one thing having a place to keep your set of keys other than your pocket while driving and then knowing you would take them with you b/c you just pulled them from the ignition was nice. Another is security; a physical key and computer code is simply better than just a code. Then there is box opening. What do I need to start caring a knife? No thanks.
