Many people do not buy Saabs because they have a reputation of being expensive and difficult to repair. Well, they have this reputation because there only a few independent mechanics that work on them. If it only would be possble to fully diagnose the car just by pressing a few buttons on a SID then there would be more mechanics, lower prices and better reputation.
Given how low the Saabs sales volumes I think it would be more profitable for it to go this way. Seriosly, how many mechanics would invest into the new 9-5 scanner if Saab only sells a few thousands of these cars in the US in a year?
Following this logic the WIS and EPC should be freely available as an online website as well.
Common Saab! How about being quirky and different from the rest of manufacturers in this way?
